“Abstract Tree of Life” painting, Abud Bali Art

“O [humankind], indeed we have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is knowing and acquainted.” Qur’an 49:13

Once there was a seed planted — a seed that would eventually grow all over the world. This seed was tenderly cared for by the Master Gardener such that it grew strong and healthy; reaching towards the skies, and unfolding its leaves in the sun. The unique thing about this…

For Palestine…

Dark gray metal and bullet holes
and you can’t walk on the streets,
the wailing and moaning
and the mothers cries,
the soldiers laughter as they smoke another cigarette.
And the rape and the slaughter
just another day in a genocide.
And why does the mournful mother cry?
Her young son has too much bravado,
and it will be just another bullet to the head.
And see the broken bodies piled high
just another day in a genocide.
The blood soaked ground cries out its stench,
life doesn’t matter
just another day in a genocide.
And the money pours in, its a death trap
and the slaughter grows — blown off limbs everywhere
while the…

On Muhammad Iqbal’s poem, A Dialogue Between God and Man

Iqbal’s poem:

I made the whole world with the same water and clay,
But You created Iran, Tartary, and Ethiopia.
From the earth I brought forth pure iron,
But you made from that iron sword, arrow, and gun.
You made an axe for the tree in the garden,
And a cage for the songbird.

You made the night, I made the lamp;
You made the earthen bowl, I made the goblet.
You made deserts, mountains and valleys;
I made gardens, meadows, and parks. …

When the Ummah works together as it should we become as a strong rope that cannot be broken. We are a nation of differing countries, races, and languages united by the Truth but which is still difficult to hold together when cultural differences create negative judgements. Imagine a beautifully designed rug intricately designed resplendent with color and pattern shaped by the loving Hand of our Master Craftsman. Our uniqueness is an aspect of the multiplicity of Allah, whether as individuals or tribes, nations, races and cultural identities.

Look closely at this most beautiful of rugs and marvel at the craftsmanship…

The choosing of Muhammad to bring the Truth to the Arabs:

Sighing he sat down in the darkness of the cave waiting for the first glimmer of dawn’s early light wondering about the One True God spoken of by the Jews and the Christians. His heart stirred when as a child one of his male relatives recited from the Bible, “The Lord your God is One.” However, this particular morning his spirit was troubled as some of the teachings he had heard from the Christians and the Jews seemed contradictory. How can God have a son when their Scriptures taught…

love is a process
of letting go
and letting Allah
create a miracle

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Allah did not send any Prophet but that he cared for sheep” The companion asked, “And you as well?” “Yes, I was a shepherd with a modest wage on behalf of the people of Mecca.” Sahih al-Bukhari 2143

She sat in the cold car with seven blankets shivering to stay warm. It was a cold, starry night, and as usual she fell asleep gazing at the stars with tears falling down her face. …

One Line Poetry Prompt: balance

darkness manifesting
can only be
balanced by the Light

Keeping watch with angels silence to reflect,

God whispers from Heaven’s deep silence, “Reflect.”

Dusty garments of humility bow down

in reverance for The One, oh reflect!

Immersed in distracting sound and light,

stumbling while entranced on lit screens, can’t reflect.

Seeking solitude, a Shepherd sought a cave,

Truth then revealed for his pure need to reflect.

Listen in silence, O hapless erred humans,

listen you must hear his voice--go and reflect.

His Mercy comes in silent gentle billows,

but you must see, hear, and realize to reflect.

when morality plays
the rules
are lost in suffering

Sheryl Martin

It is suffering that shoots streams of creativity out of my heart, and the brokenness of life that explodes my heart into its soul.
